Charleston summers are characterized by high temperatures and humidity.  In June, the average high is around 88°F, while July and August see averages climbing to over 90°F.  Nighttime temperatures remain warm, typically in the upper 70s.  This season also marks the beginning of the hurricane season, which runs from June through November, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms and rain showers.

Charleston's summer calendar is packed with events that appeal to a wide range of interests. Some of the highlights include:
